About the Poem: “ In Praise of Edmonton Transit Services”
This poem was written in December 2024 as part of Edmonton Chinese Writing Club’s “Heritage Project.”
Life is like a journey, and for many, the bus is an unforgettable part of that journey. Some people ride it only occasionally, while others rely on it day and night, witnessing the changing seasons from its windows.
What remains most vivid in my memory are those early mornings and late nights when wind and snow filled the air — when the city had not yet awakened or had already settled into quiet. In those moments, the buses always arrived, just as expected. Crossing ice and snow, braving the cold, they waited in silence — steady, reliable, and unwavering.
This scene has always lingered in my mind. On December 26, 2024, I finally put it into words — a poem dedicated to the buses and the operators who quietly serve, and to the countless ordinary yet heartwarming days they help carry us through.
